By We moved to Dubai. Here rental rates are high. We stay in a good locality in a single-bedroom apartment with our two daughters. Space is so much a concern. Out of all, my major concern is that we do not have a balcony. So I find it difficult to dry the clothes. Being an air-conditioned apartment and a very hot climate outside, I cannot open the windows. It takes 3 or 4 days for the clothes to dry. By then so many clothes pile up and I overload the washing machine. Many times we had to service the washing machine and they keep saying not to overload the machine. Heated arguments with my husband. He blames me for the repair of the washing machine, I blame him for the space constraints and not having a balcony. House hunt for affordable apartments in good locality. Nothing workable so far. Some days pass by, and some days frustrations and arguments. The solution to finding a bigger home with a balcony seems to be in the far future. Thinking about drying the clothes has become a nightmare. We are with this for more than 2 years.
Again today, my washing machine has stopped working halfway. The clothes are so damp. The service man asked for heavy servicing charges and the replacement of parts. Again back to blaming. But today the outcome was very different. We sat down and listened to each other’s issues. We have found a workable solution. We have booked a washer with a dryer. Now this is going to solve my primary concern.
In our life, we face so many challenges and sometimes we keep looking in the wrong direction for the right solution. We look for complicated answers. Sometimes solutions are pretty simple. I have figured out that for an apartment without a balcony, a balcony is not the only solution. What about you?
