Often we come across the word abuse. What is abuse? Treating with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly.
Let’s look into what we are doing. Using insulting language and taking confidence out is also abuse. What are we doing to ourselves? What conversations do we have about ourselves? Are we talking to us with sympathy? How many times do we blame ourselves when things go wrong? How many times do we tell ourselves that we are not capable enough?
Neglect is the most common form of child abuse. Now, do we take care of ourselves properly? Exercising, caring for our hair and skin, and meditating are all needed to pamper ourselves. Our mind and body need to be well attended. Are we giving it time or neglecting it?
Excessive use of a substance in a way that is detrimental to self or others is also abuse. So cigarettes and alcohol consumption comes under substance abuse. Not only that, look into your diet. Do you consume food that is safe for your body? Junk food, deep-fried items, fast food, canned and processed food, excess sugar, and food your body doesn’t tolerate. Don’t you think these are also substance abuse?
Not getting proper rest and sleep, and doing things that exhaust your mind such as excess screen time is also considered abuse.
Abuse is a crime. The individual committing such crimes can be punished. If that is the case, are we not punishable for abusing ourselves? Stop abusing now.
